Ernest C. Stewart, 91, of Shelton, beloved husband of the late Elaine Anderson Stewart, died January 30, at the VA Hospital in West Haven, after a brief illness. He was a veteran of the US Army, having served in the Pacific Theater during WWII.

He was a devoted and loving father of sons Karl Stewart of Sandy Hook, Richard Stewart of Naugatuck, Michael Stewart of Norwalk, David Stewart of Shelton; daughters Karin Riccio and Kim Stewart, both of Shelton; six grandchildren; and one great-grandson, who loved him very much. A daughter, Susan Stewart, predeceased Mr Stewart.

Mr Stewart was a retired high school English teacher, and a retired US Postal worker.

He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Trumbull, since 1979, where he faithfully attended, and had many dear friends in his congregation who will miss him very much.

Mr Stewart had a great sense of humor and he loved to tell jokes. He was always prepared with at least two or three to tell his friends and family. He had a lifelong love of reading, and he especially loved to read the scriptures.

Friends are invited to attend the funeral service Thursday, February 4, at 10 am, at the church, located at 30 Bonnieview Drive in Trumbull. Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family. Friends may call on Wednesday, February 3, between the hours of 5 and 8 pm, at the Larson Funeral Home, 2496 North Avenue, Bridgeport.
