Edward Miles House, 88, of Newtown died May 12 at Pope John Paul II Center in Danbury. He was the husband of Elenore (Wold) House.The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research or to the Cancer Research Institute. To leave an online condolence visit honanfh.com.

Mr House was born October 19, 1927, in Bridgeport, to the late Ethel (Thompson) and Miles House. He was a meat cutter at the age of 17, and later served in the US Army as a member of the military police.

Following his military service, at the age of 20, he was promoted to meat manager with First National Stores. He started his retirement in 1993, during which he watched endless UConn Husky basketball games, tended his tomato gardens, and pool.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, David House, and his wife Leslie, of Middlebury, and a daughter, Pamela House of Sandy Hook; and his beloved grandchildren, Christopher, Rebecca, and Patrick House.

Mr House was predeceased by two sisters, Jane May and Marilyn Eck.

His family would like to sincerely thank the staff at Pope John Paul II Center for their outstanding care and compassion over the past four years.

Calling hours will take place Wednesday, May 18, at Honan Funeral Home, 58 Main Street in Newtown, from 5 to 8 pm, culminating in a eulogy at 8 pm. Interment will be at Mountain Grove Cemetery of Easton, with military honors, at a later date.
