Ann Neustrand, 72, of Sandy Hook died May 16 at Danbury Hospital.

She was born in Danbury August 17, 1943, a daughter of the late Mary (Felcovic) and Nils Neustrand.

Ms Neustrand was a resident of Sandy Hook for most of her life, and was a graduate of Newtown High School and Southern Connecticut State University. She taught in Shelton and Seymour schools for 35 years.

Ms Neustrand enjoyed gardening as well as traveling throughout the United States and Canada.

She is survived by three sisters: Adelaide Ryan of Waxahachie, Texas, Mary Buckner of Denton, Texas, and Joanne Neustrand of Boca Raton, Fla.; and a nephew, Gannon Smith of Orlando, Fla.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in St Rose of Lima Church, 46 Church Hill Road in Newtown, on Saturday, May 21, at 12:30 pm.
