Andrew Smolley, 89, of Ansonia, died January 21 in Danbury Hospital, after a brief illness. He was born in Ansonia, February 28, 1926, and was a son of the late Theodore and Johanna (Pototeka) Smolley.

His brother, Stephen Smolley of Newtown; sister, Rose Matuszewski and husband, Charles, of Florida; and nieces and nephews survive Mr Smolley. His brothers John and Peter Smolley; and sisters Pauline Culmo, Mary Matuszewski, and Mildred Smolley predeceased him.

Mr Smolley was a communicant of the Church of the Assumption, member of the Joseph A. Doyle Senior Center, loved UCONN Women's Basketball, and the New York Yankees.

His Mass of Christian Burial will take place Thursday, January 28, at 1 pm, in the Church of the Assumption, 61 North Cliff Street, Ansonia, with the family gathering at noon. Burial will be in the spring, in St Peter St Paul Cemetery.
