Additional Toys For Tots Locations Announced, Special PD Collection Saturday
Toys For Tots-Ridgefield, the local chapter of the national campaign, has added three new locations in Newtown for this year’s Toys For Tots collection.
Toys can now be dropped off at Edward Jones Financial, 19 Church Hill Road; Great Clips, in Sand Hill Plaza, 228 South Main Street; and Ricci’s Salon and Toni&Guy, both at 99 South Main Street.
Donations of new, unwrapped toys for children in need in Newtown and the region this holiday season can be left at of these locations through Friday, December 18
The new locations are in addition to the previously announced drop-off spots for Newtown: Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices, 84 A South Main Street; Coldwell Banker, 45 South Main Street; Masonicare at Newtown and Lockwood Lodge, 139 Toddy Hill Road; Panera Bread, 228 South Main Street (Sand Hill Plaza); Urgent Care, within Plaza South at 266 South Main Street; and Wireless Zone of Newtown, also within Sand Hill Plaza.
In 2014, Toys For Tots distributed more than 17 million toys to more than seven million less fortunate children. In addition, the organization collected more than $284 million in charitable donations, setting a record for the organization.
Marine Toys For Tots is listed as a top charity in the Philanthropy 400. It has been accredited again by the Better Business Bureau’s Wise Giving Alliance in 2015.

Special Collections Saturday
In addition to the ongoing collections, Newtown Police Department will be doing a pair of special Toys For Tots collections this weekend.
Members of the local police force will be collecting toys on Saturday, December 5, from 10 am until 2 pm, at two locations: in front of The Toy Tree, in The Shoppes at Church Hill & Queen, 14 Church Hill Road; and in front of TJ Maxx, within Sand Hill Plaza at 228 South Main Street.
