To the Editor:

I am endorsing Ben Ruben for the Legislative Council in District 3. Ben moved to Newtown only a few years ago but immediately planted roots. He is married to Nina and together they have a three-year-old son, Benny, and daughter due in October. Aside from being a family man, Ben is a successful, self-employed businessman and a volunteer.

Ben has been an active member of the Community Center Commission, currently serving as vice chair. His vision for his role on the Legislative Council aligns with many of the initiatives the Town has pursued over the last several years. Ben believes in preserving Newtown’s rural character, excellent schools, the revitalization of Fairfield Hills and maintaining low taxes.

As a small business owner, he knows how to bring businesses in that will complement our Town and add to our grand list.

Ben believes in excellence in education; his children will soon attend our public schools. He will advocate for policies that help Newtown to prepare our children to be productive citizens whether their career paths include college or the trades.

Ben’s community involvement did not begin with his move to Newtown. His experience includes president of his past homeowner’s association, where he worked with residents to resolve problems and kept dues low by negotiating costs with suppliers. Both skills will make him a very effective councilman whether at budget time or when persuading other members to act for the advancement of Newtown.

For a young man, Ben has many accomplishments under his hat. Let’s channel his energy toward improving Newtown by putting his voice on the Legislative Council. Please vote for him on November 7.

This letter was on my personal behalf and not in relation to my role on the Legislative Council.

Thank You,

Jeff Capeci,

Newtown
