The America I’ll Choose

To the Editor:

I’ve always been impressed how gifted people can string words together with such power and beauty. JFK’s stirring plea: “Ask not what your country can do for you…” inspired many to serve. Dr King’s “I Have a Dream” promised a new era of race relations in this country. And in 2024, Obama’s “There’s no red America or blue America, just the United States of America” electrified us.

Surely words can inspire, but they can also terrify: “Get out and vote just this time. You won’t have to do it anymore. It’ll be fixed,” says Trump. Think about what those words imply, and the deep, dark dive into an abyss they represent. Can anyone listen to effluent like that without understanding how dangerous it is? No, no, Mr Trump, not on my life are you going to mess with my vote.

Words like his insult the senses and fail to pass muster on intelligence and decency: “I’ll be a dictator on day one.” “He’s not a war hero, he’s a hero because he was captured. I don’t like people who were captured, okay?” How about his pathetic, “Suckers and losers” reference to American soldiers who never came home? And this gem: “When you’re famous, they let you do it. You can do anything. Grab ‘em by the p***y.”

Yes, words do matter, and Trump’s lifetime of lies, belligerent name calling and crimes are disgusting. We’ve endured this diseased moron for years and no one in their right mind should want to go back to that. Trump’s America isn’t the one I chose to live in. I know who I’ll be voting for on November 5th, and I’m confident the groundswell for Kamala will finally put an end to America’s orange nightmare.

Trump still renting space in your head? Mean tweets really got to you.

Awe, you forgot to say “Orange man BAD.” Using the same old thought stopping talking points is losing the effect. Tucker really needs to feed you guys some new ones.

Its interesting that this letter fails to praise Willie Brown. He was the lynch pin for Kamala’s political career, but I suppose that can’t be brought up right? God forbid the media report on Kamala’s affair with a married man the same way they report on Trump’s “grab her by the p*ssy” comment, which (checks notes) was made in 2005 – a full decade before he even ran for office.

I guess you enjoy an America that has rampant illegal immigration, runaway inflation, and blank checks for foreign wars while our infrastructure crumbles. But hey, at least we’ll have “nice tweets” on X.
