How long have you lived in Newtown? My whole life, except when I went to college in Boston.

Career: Vehicle Identification Sales Specialist for SURYS Inc. I work on government bids for secure anti-counterfeit products. It’s an amazing job that I love.

What do you like to do with your free time? Play pickleball, swim in my in-laws’ pool, walk my dogs, work out, and go to concerts. I really love just being outside. My husband and I are currently researching e-bikes.

Favorite book genre? Psychological thrillers.

Favorite author? Stephen King.

Favorite movies? Dirty Dancing and The Wizard of Oz.

What do you enjoy watching on TV? HGTV, Netflix and Discovery Plus shows.

Favorite type of music? I love the Grateful Dead.

Who or what has been the greatest influence on your life? My best friend Sarah has been a big influence in my life. We have been through both good and bad times together. We have known each other since nursery school. We share a lot of similar interests and go to tons of concerts together.

If you could spend the day with one person, living or deceased, who would you choose and why? Probably my grandfather, Fran Purcell. He died with I was a baby, and I would have loved to have gotten to know him. Second would be my stepbrother Ben Carroll, who passed away unexpectedly in 2005. I didn’t have enough time with him, and I wonder the type of person he would have grown to be.

What is the best piece of advice you have ever been given? It’s not a problem if money can solve it.

What is the best piece of advice you’ve ever offered? You can think it but don’t say it. Think before you speak — have a filter, in other words.

Do you have any pet peeves? Leaving dirty dishes in the sink and not returning your grocery carts to the corral.

What is something you cannot live without? My husband and dogs.

What is your favorite thing about Newtown? The open space that we have left, like The Catherine Hubbard Sanctuary. My dogs love walking around there.

What is your favorite travel destination? My husband and I have a few favorites: St John USVI; Outer Banks, N.C.; and Mexico.

What is your favorite thing to read in The Newtown Bee? The Way We Were. I love to read about how Newtown used to be.

What would you like to see covered in The Newtown Bee? Bring back the recipe section and the “about town question” column. I would love to read old Newtowner’s stories from way back in the day too. Bring back the fifth grader’s column too.
