Bonita (Bonnie) Golebieski of Newtown passed away July 23 in Danbury, after a long illness.

Born to George and Anne (Lutzky) Maletich on January 8, 1954, she grew up in Colchester and graduated from Bacon Academy (Class of 1972). Bonnie attended Southern Connecticut State University and graduated from Greater Hartford Community College with an Associate of Science in Nursing degree.

Bonnie worked for 20 years at Hartford Hospital where she held several positions. She also worked over 10 years as a registered nurse at several visiting nurse agencies in Connecticut.

Bonnie leaves behind her beloved husband David Golebieski, whom she married 30 years ago; a brother, George A. Maletich of Bristol; several sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her parents, her sister Linda Mortensen, and a nephew Kirk Daniel Mortensen.

Bonnie loved to cook and spend time with her fur babies. She was also a breast cancer survivor.

Family and friends are invited to attend calling hours on Monday, July 29, from 5-7 pm, and a funeral service on Tuesday, July 30, at 11 am, at Honan Funeral Home, 58 Main Street in Newtown. In lieu of flowers, please make a contribution to the American Cancer Society or Koman for the Cure. Bonnie was well loved and will be missed by all.
