Nancy Woodwell-Freedman

Nancy Mae Woodwell-Freedman of Sandy Hook departed this life on July 8, 2024.

Born in Hartford, Connecticut in 1940 to Francis E. and Florence (DeMonte) Cilento, she was raised in Unionville and West Hartford. She graduated from Mount St Joseph Academy and Morse School of Business. She treasured living most of her adult life on Main Street in Farmington, where she was employed by the Marriott Hotel for twenty years as executive assistant to the general manager. She enjoyed many summers at her family home in Stonington with loved ones.

Nancy loved and collected books and was a voracious reader her entire life. She enjoyed classic movies, music ranging from the Beatles to Beethoven, art and all God’s creatures. Her home was seldom without a dog or cat.

Nancy was predeceased by her husband and the love of her life, Dr Irving Freedman.

She is survived by her beloved daughter, Courtney Woodwell Nickel and her husband, Christopher Nickel of Easton. She leaves behind her adored grandchildren, Spencer W. Nickel (Naitzabeth) of Naugatuck, Olivia Mae Nickel of Westport and Finley Francis Nickel of Easton. She was blessed with the gift of her great-grandchildren, Owen and Avery of Naugatuck. She is also survived by her loving sister, Donna Uccello of Farmington; her nephews and niece, Thomas McCarthy, Manion McCarthy, Pamela McCarthy and Anthony Uccello; as well as several cousins.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, July 20, at 11 am, at the Church of Saint Patrick, 110 Main Street in Farmington. Interment will be private.
