Developers Have Ruled And Overdeveloped Newtown

To the Editor:

Newtown was spared the development of the distribution monstrosity at exit 9 by a 3-2 vote.

The latest disaster is being considered at Castle Hill but I believe no one has commented on what will be the future of this cancer in the decades to come.

Companies with billions of dollars to invest are purchasing tens of thousands of homes and apartments throughout the United States.

No one today can accurately determine who will own and manage the Castle Hill project in the future.

All the good intentions mean nothing when the participants involved are dead and their heirs will decide what will become of this project.

In my opinion, there could be a slum in the center of Newtown, and there is nothing the town will be able to do about it!

We have lived in Newtown for over 40 years and the developers have ruled and overdeveloped our beautiful town.

If one considers Redding, Easton, Weston, Roxbury, Bridgewater, Woodbury, these towns have higher market value of their homes because they have LESS development.

Enough is enough!

Thank you,

Neil Ratner

Slum? I challenge you to name one development put in during recent years that is now a “slum”. The Enclave, Farrel and Covered Bridge all are fantastically maintained.
