Micah Joseph Foote entered eternal rest on June 3, 2024.

Micah was born to Janet Thurheimer and Donald Foote on July 4th, 1981, in Watertown, NY. The last of 6 children, baby of the family, Micah was called his mother’s angel. Micah grew up shy, quiet, and mostly reserved often keeping to himself but friendly - that same personality following him well into adulthood.

Micah left home as a teenager joining his brother Aaron and finishing high school in Lake Placid. Lake Placid is also where Micah began his culinary journey under the tutelage of Chef Robert Borden, experiencing all roles in the kitchen at Le Bistro La Liberte and Lumiere Bistro & Wine Bar developing a passion for cuisine.

Micah was a veteran, a Combat Marine, from 2005-2011, stationed security detail in and around Camp Pendleton Calif, and deployed overseas to Southern Helmand Province Afghanistan. Micah served as air traffic control to infantryman. He was honorably discharged after being diagnosed with kidney cancer which was removed laparoscopically. Micah was appointed Sergeant of the United States Marine Corps, July 1st 2012.

From New York to California to Colorado to North Carolina, Louisiana, and Florida, Micah enjoyed traveling, one of his fondest memories venturing to Nuevo Progreso, Mexico and getting matching wrist tattoos of the town name with his father.

After proudly serving in the Marines, Micah went onto the French Culinary Institute to continue his formal training as a chef, then attended the New York Film Academy for Photography.

Micah met his boo, Nerlande in the cesspool of online dating in 2013 and after instantly clicking and a whirlwind New York City romance of 7 months, Micah proposed atop Whiteface Mountain in Lake Placid. They were married in White Plains, New York on September 20th, 2014. After 6 months at Nerlande’s parents in Rockland County, NY, and finding out a bundle was on the way, they hightailed it to their own place in Yonkers, NY and welcomed the birth of their first child, smiling Samson in 2015. With a brief stint in school security, Micah returned to the private chef world, followed by the arrival of Madison in 2016, whose birthdays’ proximity to Veteran’s Day was a joyous added perk for Micah. The foursome then moved from Yonkers to what would be called their forever home in Newtown, Connecticut in 2017. With just a short list of backyard, Micah and Nerlande were blessed beyond measure with the home of their dreams. Micah continued working as a private chef for high-net-worth families and celebrities throughout the tri state and overseas.

Micah was a romantic husband and doting father. His children were and still are his biggest fans. From breakfast for dinner to no shortage of cuddles, food was affection. Micah showed his loved through food and if you ate it, you felt it.

An introvert and hero born on the 4th of July. Micah was a kind hearted, giving soul, and an immense talent. Micah believed in Jesus, salvation, and the Kingdom of Heaven. Micah was truly unaware of the positive effect he had on so many around him.

Micah’s absence leaves a void that can never be filled. Micah’s legacy will be carried on by his wife Nerlande, and children Sammy and Madi, who will miss Dada forever. Micah also leaves behind his mother, Janet (Michael) Eassa, father, Donald Foote, siblings, Laurel (Paul) Mendez, Aaron (Rachael) Foote, Jeremy (Lori) Foote, Chris (Susan) Foote, Rachel Foote, countless nieces and nephews, cousins and extended family and friends who loved him dearly.

Funeral services were held Saturday, June 15. Interment with Military Honors followed in Resurrection Cemetery, Newtown. Honan Funeral Home, 58 Main Street, Newtown, served the family.
