Georgiana Castellani, 77, of Sandy Hook, a longtime resident of Ridgefield, passed away on June 20, 2024.

Born in Astoria, Queens, N.Y., on May 10, 1947, to Georgiana (Slavik) and Peter Pawlyk, her early life was dominated by dance, particularly ballet. She competed in numerous dance competitions and her training culminated in attending the High School of Performing Arts in Manhattan. While in high school she met the love of her life, Thomas, to whom she would be married for over 50 years.

Devoted wife, mother, and grandmother (or Babi as she was known to her grandchildren) does not begin to describe Georgiana. She loved her family above all else. Those who were fortunate enough to enjoy her cooking were in for a real treat. After focusing on raising her two daughters, she worked in Ridgefield Public Schools for many years as both a paraprofessional and secretary. She also volunteered with the Ridgefield Republican Town Committee and sang in the choir at St Mary Church.

She was predeceased by her mother and father, her brother Peter, and her husband Thomas.

She is survived by her loving daughters, Valerie Sheehan and her husband, John of Fort Worth, Texas, and Andrea Donigian and her husband, Matthew of Sandy Hook. Georgiana is also survived by four grandchildren: John Joseph and Thomas Sheehan and Olivia and Sophia Donigian.

Family and friends will be received on Tuesday, June 25, from 5 to 7 pm, at Kane Funeral Home, 25 Catoonah Street in Ridgefield. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, June 26, at 10 am, in Saint Mary's Church, 55 Catoonah Street in Ridgefield. Interment will follow in Saint Mary's Cemetery, Ridgefield.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Labs4Rescue, PO Box 955, Killingworth CT 06419.
