Four-Car Crash

Police report a four-car accident on Toddy Hill Road about 7:45 am March 23. The accident involved a line of cars stopped on northbound Toddy Hill Road whose drivers were waiting for a non-contact vehicle ahead of them to turn left onto Vining Road.

Police said motorist Tricia A. Haisley, 27, of Monroe, who was driving a 1995 Toyota 4-Runner, crested a hill and had not noticed that traffic had stopped behind a non-contact vehicle waiting to turn left onto Vining Road.

 The 4-Runner smashed into the rear end of a 1994 Honda Civic driven by John D. Ewaskewich, 39, of Fairfield, pushing the Civic into a 1999 Toyota Camry driven by Michelina Accettullo, 31, of Monroe, pushing the Camry into the rear end of a 1999 Oldsmobile Achieva driven by Elizabeth Alvarez, 24, of Bridgeport, police said.

Alvarez was transported to Danbury Hospital to be checked out for neck pain, police said. Police issued Haisley a written warning for following too closely.

Driving Charges

Police report they charged Craig Hensel, 34, of 8 Riverside Road, Sandy Hook, on March 24 with failure to drive to the right and evading responsibility. Police said they released Hensel on a promise to appear April 6 in Danbury Superior Court.

Disorderly

Police said they charged William Boorman, 57, of 7-A Washington Avenue, Sandy Hook, with disorderly conduct on March 27. Police said they released Boorman on a promise to appear in court April 4.

Interstate Accident

State police report a two-car accident on westbound Interstate-84 near the Schoolhouse Hill Road overpass about 2:15 pm March 26.

State police said motorist Ameer Rufus Abba, 43, of Danbury, who was driving a 1997 Nissan Sentra, attempted to change lanes, causing motorist Elisabeth Liquori, 35, of New Milford, who was driving a 1997 Mitsubishi Mirage, to lose control of the Mitsubishi.

The Mitsubishi skidded off the right side of the road and struck a guardrail, state police said.

There were no injuries. State police said they warned Abba for making an unsafe lane change.

 Burglary/Larceny

Sometime between 10 and 11:30 am March 24, someone forcibly entered a Taunton Lake Road home and stole a Dell computer, a 14-karat gold necklace, and a tool box with tools, police said.

Police ask anyone with information on the crime to contact them.

 Probation Charge

Police said they traveled to Meriden on March 27 and served an arrest warrant against John Whippie, 40, of Meriden, on a charge of violation of probation.

Police said they held Whippie on a $10,000 bond for a March 28 appearance in Danbury Superior Court.

   Two MV Charges

Police report they noticed March 27 that a vehicle being driven southbound on South Main Street near Mile Hill Road did not have a vehicle registration sticker on its marker plate, so they stopped it.

 Police said they charged the driver, Carl P. Kaiser, III, 25, of Branford, with failure to display a motor vehicle registration sticker and operating a motor vehicle while under suspension.

Police released Kaiser on bond for an April 4 appearance in Danbury Superior Court.

 

Grand Place

Police report a residential burglary occurred about 2:30 pm March 28 on Grand Place. Police said they were alerted to the problem by a neighbor of the property that was burglarized.

The home was forcibly entered and the burglar made off with a quantity of jewelry. Police are investigating.

Washington Avenue

 Police report motorist Robert J. Babcock, 47, of Waterbury, who was driving a 1989 GMC Sierra pickup truck eastbound on Washington Avenue about 7:20 pm March 29, struck the rear end of an eastbound 1981 Oldsmobile Cutlass driven by Anthony P. Prenata, 41, of Shelton.

There were no injuries. Police issued Babcock a written warning for following too closely.
