Robert Rubinstein, age 84, of Oxford, passed away on Wednesday, March 11, at Yale-New Haven Hospital in New Haven. Robert was born in NYC, a son of the late Louis and Min Rubinstein.

Robert and his wife, Florence, of 63 years settled in Newtown to raise their two sons, Lewis and Craig. Bob was an active member of the community, participating in the Newtown Jaycees. He was also an active member, and served several years as president, of the Congregation Adath Israel in Newtown. He loved the game of golf and was an avid Yankee’s fan. He attended his grandchildren’s ballgames and recitals, and was always available with sound advice and quick wit. Without question, Bob was in every way a “Mensch.” He placed the interests of others ahead of his own and was always in search of ways to serve his communities and was a friend to all.

Bob continued selling insurance in retirement and found several opportunities to travel the world with Florence. Bob was also honorably discharged from the Army National Guard.

Besides his wife and two sons, Bob is survived by his daughters-in-law, Katherine and Sarah; adored grandchildren, Jessica, Zachary, Nathan, Sam, Lauren, Leah, Hannah, Maya, Seth, and Philip; great-grandchildren; Ezra and Felix, and by his many nieces and nephews. Bob, is also survived by his brother, Harold, and his wife, Bonnie, of Dallas, TX.

Bob was predeceased by his siblings, Bernie, Arthur, and Theodore.

Services will take place on Friday, March 12, at 3 pm directly, at Adath Israel Cemetery, 472 Moose Hill Road, Monroe.

Memorial contributions may be made to Adath Israel at congadathisrael.org/donate/online-donation-form.
