Young Writers’ Salon Booth Library

The Fourth Annual Young Writers’ Salon for ‘tweens and teens who like to write will be held on Sunday, December 10, at 3 pm, at the C.H. Booth Library on Main Street in Newtown. Young people in grades 6 to 10 are invited to read their original poetry, stories, and other works in a coffeehouse atmosphere.  Refreshments will be served compliments of the Newtown Women’s Club.

This event is a showcase for young writers in the community. Some have taken part in the ongoing creative writing program at Booth Library, and others write in their spare time and enjoy sharing their work.  Last year’s group read both serious and humorous pieces.

Participants in grades 6 to 10 should register at the main floor desk or call 426-4533. Pieces to be read must be submitted by Tuesday, December 5. There will be a rehearsal with snacks at 1 pm, December 10, prior to the program. For more information see Margaret Brown, Young Adult Librarian.

The Young Writers’ Salon is organized by the library’s Young Adult Council and includes special music, lighting, and décor to transform the room into a relaxed coffeehouse setting.

The program is open to the public.
