To the Editor:

I am writing in support of Deborra Zukowski as a candidate for the Board of Education. I had the pleasure of interviewing Deb for a position on the Charter Revision Commission. I was impressed by her preparation for the interview and understanding of the issues we hoped to address. Once placed on the commission, I was able to watch Deb grow and change during a yearlong process. As an engineer, Deb is always questioning things and digging deeper into the pros and cons of ideas and outcomes. It's my opinion that we need more of that attitude on the BOE. Her insistence on in-depth analysis means she can make informed decisions with all the facts at hand, rather than being swayed solely by the emotions of a discussion. At the same time, Deb cares deeply about education and the students in Newtown and will always ensure her decisions and actions are first and foremost the right thing for the future of education in Newtown. We are blessed to have a fabulous education system in Newtown with dedicated, inspiring staff members. Let's make sure we are electing people to lead them who are articulate, passionate, and smart. Deb is all three of those things. To vote for her, fill on square 14D on your ballot and write in Deb Z. in the box.
