Wrestlers Compete In Guilford Invitational
Newtown High School's wrestling team placed sixth in the Guilford Invitational, on Saturday, December 16. Fairfield Warde won the competition with a score of 238.5, Xavier was second with 162.5, Guilford third with 161.5, Ledyard fourth with 157, and Fitch fifth with 139. Newtown scored 119 to edge Wilton, which scored 113.5.
The Nighthawks had five place winners. Nik Accousti was second in the 132 pound weight division, Aaron Occhipinti (126), Owen Walsh (160), and Joe Zeller (285) were third, and Fritz Maurath was fourth at 138.
