Woman’s Club Tailgate Tag Sale Can Help Clear The Clutter

Newtown Woman’s Club is organizing its inaugural Clear The Clutter – Tailgate Tag Sale, scheduled to take place in the parking lot at Newtown Middle School on Saturday, April 30, from 8 am to 4 pm.

Residents are invited to rent a parking space, with additional table space available, for $25. Those with large SUVs, vans or trucks will be asked to rent a double space as each space is designed for one small size auto.

The win-win event will allow homeowners to clear the clutter from basements, garages, and closets, while making a little money. Fees raised by the Woman’s Club will allow the club, which is a member of the General Federation of Women’s Clubs, to continue its support of organizations such as Kevin’s Community Center, Newtown Volunteer Ambulance, Hospice Newtown Chapter, Newtown Youth Services, Meals On Wheels, Newtown High School scholarships, Fresh Start Scholarship, Woman’s Club GFWC/CT Memorial Scholarships, Salvation Army, Spay and Neuter Association of Newtown, Ann’s Place, Special Olympics, food pantries, veterans programs, domestic violence awareness programs, and others.

Participants of Clear The Clutter will be responsible for bringing and setting up their own tables, and for taking all unsold items back at the end of the day. Nothing can be left on the school premises.

Checks to reserve spaces should be made out to Newtown Woman’s Club, GFWC, Inc (with Clear the Clutter Tag Sale noted on the memo line), and sent to PO Box 101, Newtown, CT 06470. The name and telephone number of a contact person, as well as the make of each car participating for each reservation is also being requested.

Canceled checks will serve as confirmation. Advance reservations are requested by April 2; if spaces are available they will be rented — first come, first served — the morning of the sale for $35.
