When the 14th Annual Holiday Festival begins on Sunday, December 5, music will be continuous from 11 am to 5 pm in buildings along Main Street in Newtown. There will be strolling carolers, choirs at different locations, Boy and Girl Scouts at Newtown Meeting House, and ballet performances among the offerings.

Trinity Church will be presenting a service of lessons and carols for Advent beginning at 5 pm Sunday afternoon. The following are the names, locations and types of music Holiday Festival visitors can expect to find during this year’s festival.

*Strolling Musicians will be meandering along Main Street, including a group of Newtown Christian Church carolers and the NHS Trumpet Trio (John Ehlers, Mike Rostafin, and Dave Strong).

*Edmond Town Hall’s theatre, 45 Main Street, will have two music programs being offered. At 11 am and 1 pm, A Holiday Malenkee Nutcracker will be premiered. Admission is with a Holiday Festival ticket or $3 without.

Also at Edmond Town Hall, the Newtown High School Madrigal Singers will be performing a selection of songs from their annual Madrigal Dinner at 2 pm. The group’s performance will be a warm-up and preview of what will be performed at their dinner this year, which will be held later that evening in Bethel.

Members of The Madrigal Singers this year are Libby Addyman, Elana Bertram, Brett Boles, Ryan Braun, Pat Curran, Daria Denbaum, Katie DiPerrio, Deirdre Dougherty, Lauren Harmata, Jarrod Lively, Daisha Manfredonia, Andrea Marciano, Brittany McClure, Christopher Miller, Tracy Mulholland, Allison Pennucci, David Phillips, Keith Russell, Greg Simoneau, Grant Skinner, Mike Sobo, Erin Thomas, Kate Thoreson, Steve Tomasiewicz, Kate Yackel, Justin Yllanes, and Erin Zaruba.

*The Victorian Tea returns to The Alexandria Room, on the second floor of Edmond Town Hall. Music will be varied again this year, beginning with pianists Sandra Buscher, April Buscher and Catherine Iannone from 11 am to noon.

At noon, Newtown musician and instructor Peter Obre will begin an hour-long performance.

Students from Julie’s Piano Workshop (111 Church Hill Road, Sandy Hook) will then perform for 90 minutes, beginning at 1 pm. The following students are scheduled to participate Sunday afternoon: Laura Bittman, Brendan Blawie, Marilyn Carkner, Jessica Cherry, Patricia Culligan, Lisa D’Agostino, Nicole D’Agostino, Patrick DeRosa, Michelle DiBlasio, Allison Diffin, Chelsea Gentile, Grace Kalinowsky, Dylan Kellerher, Lisa Kirk, Jonathan Larsen, Lauren McMorrow, Katie Miranti, Katie Power, Alicia Rogers, Linda Rogers, Megan Rogers, Katie Schmidt, Adam Simmons, Monica Strzelecki, and Alison Yuen.

At 2:30, members of the Reinhardt family will be accompanied by flute students Becky and Vicky Cordoso for a 90-minute performance.

*Music will also be performed in the five homes on the historic homes tour.
