To the Editor:

Did you know that the Visiting Nurse Association of Newtown has been a vital part of our community since 1914?

The VNA is looking for new members who would like to volunteer with our organization. And, you do not need a medical background to become a member!

The VNA does many things for our community.

*We provide blood pressure screening at the Senior Center.

*We have eye screening for our pre-school children that we organize with the Newtown Lions.

*We operate a Thrift Shop behind the Edmond Town Hall. All proceeds are used for community projects.

*We award scholarships to Newtown graduating high school seniors who are interested in careers in nursing.

*We  work closely with the Danbury and Bethel VNA's for the services they provide to our community.

*We  send a wish list to the school district every year. We have provided defibrillators, thermometers, and emergency backpacks.

*We maintain a loan closet for residents. We provide wheelchairs, commodes, shower seats and walk-ers, all at no charge to our community.

Our meetings are held the 1st Tuesday of the month at the Municipal Center at 9:30 am.

So, please think about becoming a part of this valuable resource for community. We would like to in-vite you to our breakfast meeting on March 1st at 9:30 at My Place restaurant. It is a special day. We have a speaker for women's heart health month who will discuss "Women's Heart Issues."

If you would like to learn more about the VNA, please contact Mary Tietjen, President, at 203-426-9818 or Anna Wiedemann (VP) at 203-426-1035.

And, if you would like to attend our breakfast meeting on March 1st, please RSVP to Anna. Hope you can attend!

Sincerely,

Mary Tietjen

President
