Vincent Van Gogh: The Drawings

WASHINGTON DEPOT — To coincide with the first major exhibition in the United States focusing on Vincent van Gogh’s extraordinary drawings (at The Metropolitan Museum of Art), Washington Art Association will present “Vincent van Gogh: The Drawings,” a slide lecture by Plonia Nixon, an adjunct professor of art history at Western Connecticut State University.

The 90-minute program will begin at 4:30 pm on Sunday, November 6. Admission is $10.

The lecture will reveal the range and brilliance of the artist’s draftsmanship. It will also explore how Van Gogh engaged drawing and painting in a rich dialogue, which enabled him to fully realize the creative potential of both means of expression.

Washington Art Association’s gallery is at 4 Bryan Plaza, on Route 47 in Washington Depot. Call 860-868-2878 for reservations or additional information.
