Upcoming Blood Drives

The American Red Cross has a pair of blood drives during upcoming weeks that are convenient for Newtown residents hoping to donate.

Masonicare of Newtown will hold a blood drive on Monday, June 28. The Red Cross’s Save-A-Life bus will be parked at 139 Toddy Hill Road from 1:30 to 6:15 pm.

Walk-ins will be welcomed, and appointments can also be made by calling 800-733-2767 or going to RedCrossBlood.org (use sponsor code Ashlar).

There is also a blood drive scheduled for Wednesday, July 7, from 1:45 to 6:30 pm at the Walzer Family Jewish Community Campus, 444 Main Street North in Southbury.

The Red Cross has teamed up with Friendly’s and is offering every donor a free carton of Friendly’s ice cream for the entire month of July. The offer is good for one per person, if your entire family comes and donates that adds up to a lot of lives being saved and a lot of sweet, creamy ice cream. Every pint of blood donates saves three lives.

For any American Red Cross blood drive, donors should be in generally good health, weigh at least 110 pounds, and be at least 17 years old.
