Town Players Of Newtown Seeking Directors, Alumni

Town Players of Newtown invites area directors to submit play selections for consideration for 2011, the local theater companyâs 76th season. Plays are welcomed from a variety of genres â comedy, drama, and period pieces. Due to space limitations at the Little Theatre, however, Town Players does not stage full-fledged musicals.

The deadline for all submissions is Saturday, November 27. Submissions should be mailed to Town Players, Attention Play Selection Committee, PO Box 211, Newtown CT 06470, and should include a completed play submission form and resume.

Directors who are interested in directing but do not have a particular play in mind are also invited to contact the company. Send resume, along with the time frame you are available to direct, either via e-mail or regular mail.

Alumni For 75th Anniversary

As a part of its year-long 75th anniversary celebration, Town Players is planning a celebration for everyone who has been a part of its success over the years.

The gathering will take place on Saturday, December 11, time TBA, at the theater on Orchard Hill Road. Town Players would like to hear from anyone who has been in any of the theaterâs productions, either in the cast or part of the crew, as well as former board members.

Come share your stories and memories, and bring everyone up to date on what youâve been up to since you were last at TP, whether it was ten years ago or just last week. Be sure to bring any pictures or other memorabilia to share with your fellow thespians.

Budget should be cut by 20%, spending $2.65 million dollars per every week forever is absolutely unsustainable ! Do everything possible to Vote No on another nonsensical attempt to increase the cost of living ! Taxpayers are honestly just renting their houses from the town, it costs me $40 every night to sleep in my own bed ! Soon it will be cheaper living in a hotel than owning a property in Newtown !

Finance Board Moves $1 Million From Education Budget

I went and complaint to Rosenthall's father that the budget was too high at $80M several years ago, now we are at almost $140M . $2.65 million per week that is ! Fairfield hills should have long been developed by investors money and bring revenue to the town. WE ARE DRIVING OURSELVES OUT OF NEWTOWN by doing this and constantly raising the cost of living. It makes zero sense, any extra budget money gets burned on stupid stuff just so they can ask for more next year. Put an END TO THIS STUPIDITY and CUT THE BUDGET 20%. Everyone will be just fine ! Kids won't get any smarter anyway. That's an honest reality !

Any common sensical person can do this job at under 100k salary. Way overhyped and overpaid at over $200k annual salary. We as voters have to put an end to this. Not to mention an assistant comes along with this job paid at 190k! What is wrong with you voters?

Difficult To Vote For BOE Budget Without Specifics

The entire budget needs to be cut not raised. The proposed budget now would sit that we spend $2.65 million dollars every week. For population of less than 30k people it is absolutely absurd ! You cannot keep driving older folks out of town just to create a revolving door of parents who come here, educate their kids and run away ! There is no need to be paying 190K annual salary to an ASSISTANT to superintendent, not in the best interest of tax payers ! The voting turnout at 9% is ridiculous ! Lobby lawmakers to change the voting by mail, so everyone gets a ballot in the mail and at least 51% of residents vote to approve, otherwise the budget should not be approved if you don't have the majority ! Most folks don't even know when the vote is ! They have taxes bundled with mortgage and don't even know ! We are raising cost of living for everyone and it is absolutely not necessary.
