Three Police Promotions Slated For January 26 Event

Three town police officers will be promoted in rank when they take their oaths of office in ceremonies slated for next week.

At 6:30 pm on Thursday, January 26, at the Newtown High School cafetorium, 12 Berkshire Road, the officers will take their oaths, reflecting the largest change in the town police hierarchy in many years.

Lieutenant Christopher Vanghele will be sworn in as the police department's sole captain to serve as the second-in-command under Police Chief James Viadero.

Administrative Sergeant Aaron Bahamonde will be sworn in as one of the department's three lieutenants.

Also, School Resource Officer Liam Seabrook will be sworn in as one of the department's seven sergeants.

Newtown Police Department will be taking a no-excuses approach to seatbelt law enforcement, writing citations day and night, during the current Click It Or Ticket seatbelt use campaign.
