Thomas M. Condon

Thomas M. Condon, 93, of Shelton died July 28 at Griffin Hospital in Derby. Born February 15, 1921, in South Wales, England, he was the son of Margaret and Michael Condon. He was married to Dorothy Lourigan Condon for 69 years.

In addition to his wife, Mr Condon leaves behind his three sons and their wives, Douglas and Lisa of Newtown, Thomas and Lynn of Redding, and Barry and Yvonne of Shelton. “Pop” had six adoring grandchildren, Brett, Sean, Bradford, Scott, Katie, and Meghan. He also leaves behind a sister, Kathleen Cybart of Shelton, and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, a daughter, Sharon, predeceased Mr Condon.

Mr Condon served proudly in World War II with the 4th Infantry Division of the United States Army. He landed on Utah Beach on D-Day and received the Purple Heart and Bronze Star for his service to his country.

He began his career as a lineman with the United Illuminating Company, where he worked for 38 years, until his retirement in 1984. He was a member of the American Legion for 61 years. Mr Condon looked forward to his weekly shopping sprees with his son Barry, and their visits to Central Subalpi Club. At the Subalpi Club, they would engage in conversations with friends and local favorites.

Friends are welcomed to greet the family Thursday, July 31, at Riverview Funeral Home, 390 River Road, Shelton, from 4 to 7  pm. On Friday, August 1, his procession will leave the funeral home at 10:30 am for a Mass of Christian burial at 11 am, at St Margaret Mary Church, 50 Donovan Lane, Shelton. Burial with full military honors will immediately follow at Riverside Cemetery in Shelton.
