Theodore T. Balakier

Theodore T. Balakier, 74, beloved husband of Beatrice “Bea” (Hoydic) Balakier, died in his home on August 30.

He is survived by his son, Douglas Balakier, and daughter-in-law, Kathryn, of Sandy Hook.

Born in Bridgeport, he had been a Stratford resident since 1974. He was a World War II veteran of the US Marine Corps. Mr Balakier was retired from Carpenter Technology where he had been employed for more than 20 years. He was a member of Bridgeport Hospital’s The Heartbeats, and CarTech Retirees.

In addition to his wife and son, he is survived by two other beloved children, Diane Zadrozny and her husband, Lester, of Shelton, and Mark Balakier of Stratford; four loving grandchildren, Dana Balakier, Nicholas Balakier, Sarah Zadrozny and Stephen Zadrozny; and several nieces and nephews. He had been predeceased by a granddaughter, Whitney Balakier.

Friends are invited to attend the funeral on Saturday, September 2, at 9:15 am in the Pistey Funeral Home, 2155 Main Street, Stratford, and at 10 am in Our Lady of Grace Church with a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment with military honors will be in Maple Grove Cemetery, Easton.

Friends may call on Friday, September 1,  from 4 to 8 pm.
