The Top Of The List

To the Editor:

When we vote for a fellow citizen for an elected position in the Town of Newtown, we look at the candidate's personal work experience, their past contributions to the Town of Newtown, and his/her family life/personal attributes.

The citizen of Newtown at the top of this list, in our opinion, is Jim Gaston. Jim has been a successful lawyer with his own practice for over 28 years (licensed in Connecticut for over 35 years). Jim has been a member of the Newtown Board of Finance for 12 years and currently holds the vice chairman title. Jim has also served as burgess for the Borough of Newtown for 25 years and currently holds the warden title. Jim served as a Board of Selectmen member from 2011 to 2015.

Personally, Jim and his wife, Stephanie, have four children and have resided in Newtown since 1991. Jim is a huge supporter of education (he was instrumental in halting the closing of Hawley School) and finally, Jim is loyal to his fellow citizens, regardless of political opinion.

Jim Gaston is running for the Board of Finance, and we support him.

Thank you, Jim, for your commitment and hard work for our town. We hope your support and dedication to the Town of Newtown in an elected capacity continues. We know on a personal level, it always will.

Sincerely,

Mary Pat and David Frobey
