To the Editor:

As we approach a new school year and the campaign for the election of a new first selectman and other town officials, many residents may fail to take an interest in making their voices heard so we can have a meaningful discussion with the candidates who seek our support in the November election.

The League of Senior Voters will organize a series of "Open Forum Discussions" at the Senior Center every Tuesday in October, starting at 4:30 pm, during which one of the candidates will be asked to demonstrate creative and innovative solutions to unresolved problems and voters' concerns.

Each of the candidates will be asked to contact the League of Senior Voters and select one of the following dates: October 3, 10, or 17. Then all three will be invited to return on Wednesday, November 1, to participate in a debate on a number of issues, which the League of Senior Voters will prepare and which will be presented by an impartial moderator.

All seniors are asked to prepare a list of problems and concerns which they believe are relevant. Please prepare these and bring them to the Senior Center. Each of the candidates running are asked to choose a date in October and forward ASAP their choice to my e-mail address mrmagnan@msn.com.
