The craft center, school and gallery for fine craftsmanship has begun a new series of exhibitions featuring an in-depth collection of work by a different local artist. A wide range of work is displayed in a special area in their gift shop along with information about the artist, their designs, how they make their work and what inspires them.

For July a selection of turned wood bowls and vessels by Mr Degen is on display.

Mr Degen is a regular faculty member at the center, where he teaches a number of woodturning classes. He is also the studio manager for the craft center’s state-of-the-art Turning Studio.

Mr Degen is also a member of the craft center’s board of directors and was a past president of the Nutmeg Woodturners League, a group of woodturning enthusiasts from throughout the region. Mr Degen has studied with many noted woodturning artists including Ian Kirby and Richard Raffan.

Brookfield Craft Center, at 286 Whisconier Road (Route 25), can be reached for additional information at 775-4526.
