To the Editor:

On behalf of the Newtown Republican Town Committee, I would like to thank all our friends and supporters for making our Family Picnic and Pig Roast last Sunday at Treadwell Park a resounding success. By the grace of God, we were given a beautiful, sunny October Sunday. The roast pork was tender and juicy, the drinks were cold, and the crowd enjoyed talking with GOP candidates.

Those in attendance included Sherman First Selectman Clay Cope, who is running for Congress, Dan O'Grady, running for probate judge, State Senator Tony Hwang, and State Reps Mitch Bolinsky and J.P. Sredzinski running for re-election to the 106th and 112th Districts. Also in attendance was Will Duff, running to replace Dan Carter, our GOP candidate for US Senate, in the 2nd District. Other Republican dignitaries in attendance included our very own Pat Llodra, Danbury Mayor Mark Boughton, and Peter Lumaj.

The fun included a pie-eating contest where J.P. took the crown by eating more delicious apple pie than his three General Assembly running mates and Dan O'Grady. Children got their faces painted, played games, or ran around the playground while the adults mixed it up with politicians and friends alike. The turnout was better than expected with about 100 friends and supporters present. Everyone had plenty to eat and learned of the bold ideas our GOP candidates have for turning our state around.

I also want to thank all of our sponsors and volunteers without whom we could not have been successful, especially Dennis and Phil from Windover BBQ and Catering. We look forward to seeing everyone on the campaign trail and at the polls on November 8, so please don't forget to vote.

Best Regards,

Jeff Capeci
