TALK AT JEWISH MUSEUM NOV. 14

AVV 10-19 #716636

NEW YORK CITY — The Jewish Museum will present a Books in Focus program, “They Called Me Mayer July: Painted Memories Of A Jewish Childhood In Poland Before The Holocaust,” on Wednesday, November 14, at 6:30 pm.

Self-taught artist Mayer Kirshenblatt will be joined by his daughter, noted New York University professor and scholar of Jewish culture Barbara Kirshenblatt-Gimblett, to mark the publication of his record of Jewish life in a Polish town before World War II. They Called Me Mayer July presents Kirshenblatt’s childhood impressions, his lively paintings, and a narrative created from nearly 40 years of father-daughter interviews.

The Jewish Museum is at 1109 Fifth Avenue at 92nd Street. For more information, www.thejewishmuseum.org or 212-423-3200.
