C.H. Booth Library's summer reading programs began with a magic wand on Monday, June 20, as Steven Burchard of Magical Memories Entertainment presented a show.

Children's Librarian Alana Bennison shared information about the children's summer reading program before the magic show began.

Ms Bennison said participants can sign up online, and volunteers at the library are available to help with the process.

"So sign up online and keep reading, reading, reading, until you just can't read anymore," said Ms Bennison.

Mr Burchard told the students he brought a magic wand with him for the show, and asked attendee Evan Kliczewski to help him with his first portion of the show.

"Are you guys ready to see some magic now?" he said.

But when Mr Burchard handed Evan the wand, it flopped in his hand, no longer straight. The children all laughed in response.

Along with the children's program, the library also has a young adult program and an adult summer reading program. The children's program is for readers between 4 years old and fifth grade, and the young adult is for readers in sixth through twelfth grades.

Participants in each of the programs will have the chance to win prizes and participate in events, which will be held throughout the summer.

Upcoming events are listed on the library's calendar online at chboothlibrary.org.
