NEW MILFORD - Newtown artist and resident Anne Marie Foran is exhibiting recent oil and watercolor paintings at The Silo Gallery at Hunt Hill Farm, 44 Upland Road in New Milford, through July 24. The gallery is open Wednesday through Saturday, 10 am-5 pm; and Sundays, noon-5 pm.hunthillfarmtrust.org or call 860-355-0300.

An opening reception will be hosted at the gallery on Sunday, June 26, from 1 to 3 pm. The Silo will be serving light hors d'oeuvres at the event, which is free for all to enjoy.

Acclaimed for her vivid use of color as well as the energy and spirit of her images, Ms Foran captures both the qualities of realism and abstraction in her works. Whether they are portraying the exuberance of the natural world, or the serenity of nature in still life, she evokes the variety, vitality and beauty of that world.

Ms Foran received her degree in art from Marymount Manhattan College where she began to build the broad range of her talents including oil and watercolor paintings, sculpture and collage. She is an active member of Washington Art Association, The Society of Creative Arts of Newtown, Easton Arts Council, and the Connecticut Portrait Society.

Ms Foran has studied painting with Ira Barkoff, Daniel Greene, Diane Dupris, Jack Rosenthal, Marja McCarthy and Robert Albergetti, as well as sculpture with John Riedmann. She has exhibited at The Mattatuck Museum in Waterbury. Currently, her paintings may be viewed at Hewitt Gallery in New York City.

Many of her works are also in private collections in New York, Boston, Los Angeles, Minneapolis, Nantucket and throughout Connecticut.

Hunt Hill Farm is the former estate of Ruth and Skitch Henderson, founders of the New York Pops, operating now as a nonprofit organization whose mission is to cultivate love of land, food and the arts. Home to Silo Cooking School, the property is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

The Silo's converted barns and stables are surrounded by hundreds of acres of open space, active farmlands, stonewalls and woodlands.
