State tournament action gets underway for Newtown High School's squads on Saturday, May 27, when the boys' lacrosse team hosts Fairfield Warde in a qualifying round matchup, at Blue & Gold Stadium, at 11 am.

Newtown is the No. 13 seed and Warde is seeded 20th in the Class L bracket.

The girls' lacrosse team is the top seed in Class L and will host the winner of No. 16 South Windsor and No. 17 Hall of West Hartford on Tuesday, May 30, at Blue & Gold, beginning at 5 pm.

Softball and baseball get started on the road, both in Class LL. The softball team is seeded 19th and will travel to Storrs to take on No. 14 EO Smith on Tuesday, May 30, at 4 pm. The baseball team, seeded 21st, will visit No. 12 Hall, same date and time.

In Class L boys' volleyball No. 15 Newtown visits No. 2 Darien in the first round on Wednesday, May 31, at 6 pm.

Girls' and boys' track and field athletes trek to Manchester to participate in the Class LL championships on Wednesday, May 31, starting at 3:30 pm.

The tennis teams begin state play on Thursday, June 1. Girls' and boys' golf, coming off their South-West Conference championship matches (boys on Friday, May 27 and girls on Tuesday, May 30), will compete in states on Tuesday, June 6. The girls will play at Tashua Knolls Golf Course in Trumbull and the boys at Fairview Farms Golf Course in Harwinton.
