Occupation: I am the circulation supervisor at CH Booth Library. I ensure the efficiency of circulation. I’m the “go to” person for account issues and that kind of thing. I have my master’s in library and information science.

Family: My parents and siblings live in Idaho now. I live with a really good friend and her husband in Danbury.

Pets: I have a cat, Sir Frederick. He is about 7 years old.

How long have you been in Newtown? I started at the library the end of January. I moved to Connecticut a year ago from Brooklyn. I grew up in Maine, though, and lived in Pennsylvania for a while.

What do you like to do in your free time? I have a second job, as an adjunct librarian at WestConn, so that takes up a lot of my free time. I do a lot of visiting of friends and family in the New England area. I enjoy crocheting, gardening, baking, and reading. I love going to museums, too.

Do you have a favorite author? One of my favorites is Alan Bradley. He writes the Flavia De Luce series, about an 11-year-old girl in England who solves mysteries.

Do you have a favorite travel destination? If I had more time, I’d go to the Maine Coast. There’s something about the way the rocks meet the water and the history of the lighthouses. I find it soothing, and finding things in the tidal pools is really fun. Also, I love island hopping near Brunswick, Maine. The last bridge onto Land’s End is a cribstone bridge, and they claim it is the only bridge of that kind in the country.

What is the best thing about Newtown? The community. I’ve never encountered a community as tight-knit as Newtown. Everyone is superfriendly and welcoming.

Who has been the greatest influence on your life? I would say my grandmother, my mother’s mother. She died when I was 10, but everything I know about her is that she was an incredibly strong woman, who succeeded above all the challenges brought her way. She was a “go get ’er” kind of person. In an age when women did not travel alone, she moved from Wisconsin to Nevada and lived on her own. She didn’t get married until she was almost 30. She raised seven kids and was a huge advocate of the library and community of Boise, Idaho. She was a regular contributor to the newspaper there, and a fundraiser.

Do you have a personal philosophy? Reach for your dream, no matter how challenging it is.

Do you have a guilty pleasure? Macaroni and cheese. If I can’t figure out what to eat, I’ll have mac and cheese. If I’m in a hurry, I’ll make Annie’s macaroni and cheese, and add avocado and nutmeg. Or I make my own, with any melty kind of cheese I have in the refrigerator.
