Occupation: I’m a banker with People’s United Bank. I’m a reserve manager, so I cover the offices in Monroe, Newtown, and Southbury.

Family: I’ve been married for 15 years to Betsy. We have two kids. Rachel is 8 years old. She is a third grader at Sandy Hook Elementary School. We have a son who was stillborn, three years ago, named Andrew. We miss him tremendously.

Pets: We have a wacky dog named Chloe. We got her from an Animal Center adoption day, here in town. She is a puggle, which is supposed to be a cross between a pug and a beagle. We think there’s other stuff in her, too. She thinks she’s a cat. She likes to try to climb up and sit on your shoulders. And she will steal any food, even off our plates.

How long have you lived here? We moved to Sandy Hook in 2003, from Danbury.

What do you like to do in your free time? We lead a kind of quiet life. We try to spend time as a family, doing things Rachel is into. She goes to Lathrop School of Dance, and we’ve gone skiing and snowboarding together. I love to cook, and we like to hang out with our friends. A few times, I’ve made wine. It has turned out well, and it’s fun to give it away to friends.  I’ve got a Malbec brewing now.

Do you have a favorite sports team? I follow the Yankees and the Rangers. I grew up in Westchester.

Do you have a favorite travel destination? I love to travel. My dad traveled for business, so I grew up getting to travel a lot. My favorite places are Bermuda and Venice. Bermuda is tranquil and the beaches are beautiful. I love Venice. It’s kind of mysterious. You can just wander and find little shops and restaurants. There are sights to see, but it’s a place where you can just discover things.

What is the best thing about Newtown? I love the friends we’ve made here. We’re really close with some of them.

Who has been the greatest influence in your life? Probably my parents, Albert and Jodi. They’ve always been there for me, for us as a couple, and for the three of us as a family.

Do you have a personal philosophy? On my e-mail, I have the phrase from [former Sandy Hook Elementary School Principal] Dawn Hochsprung: “Be nice to each other. It’s really all that matters.” You can have a bad day at work or have any kind of obstacle, but just be nice to people and it will come back to you.

Do you have a guilty pleasure? Until I had heart issues, I used to love to fly. I’m a pilot, but I don’t actively fly now. That used to be such a guilty pleasure, to get out and above it all. There are no other distractions then, and it was great.
