To the Editor:

On Friday, June 1, two members of the Newtown Highway Department moved the finished mural for the new senior center to storage at the Municipal Center. I unfortunately did not get their names, but I do wish to thank them and Fred Hurley and Arlene Miles who arranged the move and storage. The mural was a group effort, and members of the Commission on Aging were particularly helpful in the process.

Maureen Wills did the presentations concerning the design of and production of the mural, began the sign up process, and also made preliminary plans for a work location and storage arrangements. Anna Wiedemann, who chairs the Commission, completed the sign up process and final arrangements for the work space at Edmond Town Hall and the storage of the finished mural. A special thanks to Sheila Torres, whose careful attention to our requests made our experience at ETH a very positive and productive one. I would like to personally thank all of those members of our community and some special guests who took part in constructing the mural, which is absolutely beautiful.

The two artists commissioned to guide the many artisans were Joanne and Bruce Hunter from The Art Spot, who gave generously their time, from the early planning to the finished work. Finally, our celebration of the completion of the mural was arranged by Ann LoBosco, who coordinated all of the food prepared by members of Friends of Newtown Seniors and provided a lovely arrangement with the finished mural as a backdrop. Both the presence and support of Dan Rosenthal was greatly appreciated. It was a community effort, and the resulting product is a treasure.

Again, thanks to all involved.
