Members of The Garden Club of Newtown returned home following the Connecticut Flower & Garden Show last month with another collection of honors and awards.

Through the end of the month, Weaving Newtown is being represented with a collection of original works in the new display case at Newtown Municipal Center. Clay Dates Potters, the first artists to be represented in the new exhibition space, still have their work on view, just a few miles away.

The competition theme for Flagpole Photographers Camera Club this month is “Forced Perspective.”

Set in the 1940s, "The Mayfair Affair" is a richly comic tale of a man desperate to protect his fortune and reputation as threats of dissolution loom over his marriage and his once vast estate. An arts ministry of Walnut Hill Community Church in Bethel will have the honor of giving the farce its Northeast premiere, with four performances scheduled at the end of the month. Deana Merchant of Newtown is directing.

The Society of Creative Arts of Newtown will have Rick Daskam painting a landscape with a Monhegan theme at its next meeting, scheduled for Wednesday, March 13, beginning at 7:30 pm.

As a snow storm that eventully buried in Newtown under 11½ inches of snow was approaching the town last weekend, Town Players of Newtown announced the decision to reschedule auditions. Originally planned for March 3-4, auditions for the Ray Cooney comedy Funny Money have been pushed to Sunday and Monday, March 10-11.

Flagpole Radio Café will return to the stage of Edmond Town Hall on Saturday, April 6, with a 7 pm show that will feature guest artist Lucy Kaplansky.

The Someday Cinema Series will screen the 1963 World War II film "The Great Escape," starring Steve McQueen, at Edmond Town Hall on Sunday, March 10, at 1 and 7 pm.
