The 29th season of Saturday Pasta Dinners at Newtown United Methodist Church will continue next weekend. Dinner will be served Saturday, April 6, in the church’s fellowship hall, 92 Church Hill Road. A live performance of bluegrass, country, and folk music will follow.

The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change is reporting that there are 11 years left to make significant progress on reducing carbon emissions around the world, or mankind will face catastrophic consequences. Newtown Environmental Action Team will host a presentation about climate change on Wednesday, April 3, at 7 pm, at C.H. Booth Library.

The Someday Cinema Series will screen one of MGM’s most enduring musicals, the 1954 romance-musical Seven Brides for Seven Brothers, at Edmond Town Hall, 45 Main Street, on Sunday, April 7, with screenings at 1, 4, and 7 pm.

A free private event for Sandy Hook/Newtown children and families is being planned for Friday, April 5, by a nearby trampoline park and a local nonprofit organization. 

NHS students, parents, staff, and community members are invited to attend a Community Service Fair scheduled for April 9 at Newtown High School.

The Society of Creative Arts of Newtown will have Jackie Jones demonstrate in oil at the next scheduled meeting, on Wednesday, March 27, beginning at 1:30 pm. Ms Jones will be painting an ocean scene concentrating on waves.

The Garden Club of Newtown will host “Happy for House Plants” at its next monthly meeting, scheduled for the afternoon of Tuesday, March 26.

The Catherine Violet Hubbard Animal Sanctuary invites local residents to learn about its Senior Paw Project at a special Lunch and Learn on Friday, March 29. The project addresses the critical and growing needs of aging Americans who are unable to keep or care for their beloved dogs or cats.
