Sarah Higgins, a 1996 Newtown High School graduate, has been promoted to assistant pastry chef at the Le Meridien in Boston. She is the daughter of Antoinette and Bill Higgins of Newtown.

Erin Hughes of Sandy Hook has been named to the fall 2000 dean’s list at Roger Williams University. Students completing 12 or more credits per semester and earning a quality grade point average of 3.4 are placed on the dean’s list.

Patrick M. Kelley of Sandy Hook has been named to the dean’s honor list at Canisius College in Buffalo, N.Y., for the fall 2000 semester.

Rebecca Kremenitzer of Newtown was named to the dean’s list at Brandeis University for the fall semester. Brandeis University is located in Waltham, Mass.

Tracy Mulholland, daughter of Linda Dale and Bob Mulholland of Sandy Hook, has been named to the dean’s list of Northwestern University for the fall semester. She is a freshman communications major in the School of Speech.

Notre Dame Catholic High School in Fairfield has named Michael Pankowski and Elizabeth Talamo to the honor roll for the second marking period. Both are residents of Newtown.

Rensselaer has announced its dean’s list for the fall semester 2000. Several Newtown residents were named. Susan L. Brier, a sophomore, is studying management. Richard DiDomizio is a junior majoring in materials engineering. Bernhard T. Klaus, a junior, is studying mechanical engineering.

Cindy Schlier has been named to the 2000 fall semester dean’s list at Susquehanna University. A student must compile a grade point average of 3.4 or better to be eligible. She is the daughter of Brian and Dorothy Schlier of Newtown.

William R. Speirs is a sophomore majoring in information technology and computer science. Amanda L. Torske is a junior studying chemical engineering.

Westover School in Middlebury named three Newtown residents to its fall term honor roll. Elizabeth Bowen achieved high honors with distinction; Kelly O’Connor and Karimah Gottschalck at the independent girls’ 9 through 12 grade school.
