Sandy Hook Performances Planned—

Fledgling Theater Company Will Debut

With Neil Labute’s ‘Autobahn’

Normal Theater, a new theater company based in Danbury, is set to perform Neil Labute’s short play cycle Autobahn, opening October 5 for a three week run.

Autobahn consists of seven short plays that all take place in cars. Mr Labute, master of the unspoken, weaves his web by exploring peoples’ ability or inability to relate to each other. All this is done in a common setting for urgent conversation, the car. The play will make you laugh, make you think, and at times even creep you out.

Co-director Jenny Schuck explains her take on the play: “It’s such a neat piece. Labute really gets his hands around those moments where two people are talking yet there is a total lack of communication or understanding. He creates these really touchy situations – none of which get solved.”

This play contains adult themes and may be inappropriate for children under the age of fourteen.

Normal Theater is a new theater company forming in Danbury. The primary goal of Normal Theater is to study acting to its fullest extent through the rehearsal process.

Normal Theater will be performing Autobahn Friday and Saturday nights at 8 pm. Performance dates are October 5 and 6 at Mocha Coffee House on Glen Road in Sandy Hook; October 12 and 13 at A Common Ground in Danbury; and October 19 and 20 at Thomaston Opera House Arts Center in Thomaston.

Admission to all shows is free. All venues have limited seating, so theatergoers are urged to arrive early.

More information, including directions to the venues, is available at the company’s website, WeAreNormalTheater.org.
