Ruth Gilbane

Ruth M. Campbell Gilbane, RN, 93, of Monroe, died July 12. She was born in Bridgeport, daughter of the late J. Edward and Anne Donahue Campbell and was a lifelong area resident, living in Bridgeport, Trumbull, and Monroe.

Her devoted children and their spouses, Colleen A. and Dennis Pedersen of Sandy Hook, Robert F. and Donna Gilbane of Charlestown, R.I., Patrick F. and Denise Gilbane of Fairfield, Mariellen Gilbane Dachos of Westwood, Mass., and Nanci and Michael Hayas of Spofford, N.H.; her ten grandchildren, Kimberly Satmary, Nicholas, Brandon, Kenneth, Brian, and Matthew Gilbane, Timothy, Alexandra, Kevin Dachos, and Jesse Warren; three great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews survive her.

Her husband, Thomas P. Gilbane, Sr; son, Thomas P. Gilbane, Jr; grandson, Thomas P. Gilbane III; and her twin sister, Dorothy Roderick, predeceased her.

Mrs Gilbane attended Harding High School and went on to graduate from St Vincent's Nursing School as a registered nurse. She worked at St Vincent's Medical Center and later at the Carolton Convalescent Hospital and retired after a long and dedicated career.

She was an excellent dancer, loved music, and was an avid baseball fan. Most of all, she devoted her life to her six children and loved spending time with her grandchildren. She was a longtime member of the Gaelic American Club of Fairfield and volunteered her time to St Teresa's pastoral care ministry. She was very active with the West Haven Senior Center and also was a member of the Widow Widowers Club.

Friends may call Friday, July 28, from 4 to 7 pm, in Redgate-Hennessy Funeral Home, Main Street and Gorham Place, Trumbull.

Funeral services will be on Saturday, July 29, at 10 am, at the Redgate-Hennessy Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 am in St Margaret's Shrine, 2523 Park Avenue, Bridgeport. Interment will follow in St Michael's Cemetery, Stratford.
