Robert C. Powers, Sr

Robert C. Powers, Sr, 83, of the Black Rock section of Bridgeport, beloved husband of Jennifer Casey Powers, died April 19. Born in Watertown, Mass., raised in Brookline, he was a resident of Fairfield for 36 years before moving to Black Rock in 2010.

In addition to his loving wife of 40 years, survivors include his children, Kirsten Boroskey, and her husband William, of Newtown, Lauren Ellard, and her husband Peter, of New Milford, and Robert Powers, Jr, of Virginia; his six precious grandchildren, Madison and William Boroskey, and Peter, Edward, Harper, and Genevieve Ellard. He will also be remembered by his brothers-in-law Charles Casey, and his wife Ann, of Shelton and George Fearnley of Massachusetts; one sister-in-law, Millie Powers of Ohio; as well as several nieces and nephews. His parents, Thomas and Mabel Snow Powers; and two siblings, Edith Fearnley and Thomas Powers, predeceased Mr Powers.

He was a veteran of the Korean War, serving in the United States Air Force.

Employed as an advertising manager for the First National Super Market chain in Massachusetts, Mr Powers continued his career for Combe, Inc of New York until his retirement, and afterward worked part-time for the Graystone Group.

Mr Powers was an avid Boston Red Sox fan as well as of the Patriots, Bruins, Celtics, and "All things Boston." He loved spending time with his children and grandchildren. He especially enjoyed barbecuing for family and friends, and was a faithful member of the Fairfield Baptist Church, where he had many dear friends.

Calling hours will take place Thursday, April 21, from 4 to 8 pm, in the Lesko & Polke Funeral Home, 1209 Post Road in Fairfield Center. On Friday, April 22, at 11 am, in the funeral home, Pastor John Lafreniere will officiate funeral services. His entombment will follow in Mountain Grove Cemetery.
