Revolutionary War Exhibit At Mattatuck

WATERBURY — The Mattatuck Museum Arts and History Center has opened a new exhibit, “From The Farm To The Front: Our Towns and the Revolutionary War,” which will be on display thorough September 30.

The exhibit tells the story of the Revolutionary War in the Waterbury region, both at home and on the front, through objects and the personal stories of those who lived through it. Debates and conflicts between residents of the area, the Loyalists, and those who wanted independence, is explored.

The exhibit also focuses on how the area has celebrated its independence since the war and how patriots served their new nation.

Among the many items on display are letters, narratives and objects of 18th Century military and home life.

The Mattatuck Museum is at 144 West Main Street, with convenient parking directly behind the museum on Park Place. The exhibit can be viewed during regular museum hours, Tuesday through Saturday 10 am to 5 pm, and Sunday, noon to 5 pm.
