Records Set At O'Grady Relays As Track And Field Athletes Compete

Newtown High School's boys' track and field team had a pair of school relay records set and came in third at the O'Grady Relays, at Danbury High April 27 and 28.

The sprint medley relay team of Tom Shkreli, Todd Perrin, Brett Deri, and Grant Moxham broke the school record by almost a minute with a time of 1:38.9.

he 4x1600 relay contingent of Joel Duval, Nick Jacobs, Christian Lestik, and Ryan Escoda) for breaking the school record and placed third with a time of 18:50.53.

Newtown's shuttle hurdle relay team of Deri, Jonathan Nahmias, Toby Ferris, and Tom Hartley came in third with a time of 1:13.88.

The 300 hurdlers team of Deri, Nahmias, and Ferris earned second place with a combined time of 2:12.13.

The pole vault squad comprising Edwards, Aiden Jasinski, and Michael Greenspan placed second with a combined height of 33 feet.

In a regular-season meet, the boys defeated host Weston 103-47 and Immaculate 125-25 on May 1.

The 4x100 relay of Perrin, Connor Marlin, Moxham, and Shkreli was first in 44.4 seconds.

The 4x400 team of Deri, Duval, James Barden, and Moxham was first in 52.9.

Deri won the 110 hurdles in 15.1 seconds and the 300 hurdles in 40 seconds.

Shkreli was first in the 100 in 10.9 and in the 200 in 22.9.

Moxham won the 400 with a time of 52.9.

Lestik won the 800 in 2:03.4.

Ryan Williams was first in the javelin throw with a distance of 159-5, won the shot-put competition with a throw of 38-5, and took first in the discus throw with a 135-7.

Zach Crebbin won the high jump by clearing the bar at 6-foot-2.

Newtown High's girls' track and field team visited Weston High and defeated host Weston 109-41 and Immaculate of Danbury 116-33 on April 30.

The 4x100 relay team of Brianna Lovely, Carly Swierbut, Grace Pettinelli, and Emma Curtis placed first in 50.5 seconds.

Audrey Benson won the 100 hurdles with a time of 17.9 seconds.

Swierbut was first in the 100 in 12.1, the 400 with a time of 56.9, and the 200 in 25.9.

Sarah Dowling won the 300 hurdles in 51.2.

Katie Ryan was first in the long jump event with a leap of 16-1.75, first in the triple jump with a 31-3.5, and won the pole vault competition, clearing nine feet.

Sarah Tressler won the high jump, clearing the bar at 4-foot-10.

Marley Marston won the javelin throw with a toss of 92 feet, the discus throw with a 99-5, and the shot-put competition with a 34-7.
