Storyteller "Camden Pierce" - better known as Al Cramer to those in town - visited the Newtown Senior Center on the morning of November 15 to entertain the crowd with tales from Wytopitlock, Maine. To learn more about upcoming events at the Newtown Senior Center visit 14 Riverside Road or call 203-270-4310.

After living in Wytopitlock for four years, and visiting it many times since moving to Newtown in 1964, Mr Cramer has compiled a number of humorous stories of its residents that he shares with his audiences.

He started off by explaining to the crowd that many of the stories he tells originate from people who would gather in Wytopitlock's General Store during the wintertime. Locals would sit and have coffee while sharing all the latest news from town.

With that in mind, he lightheartedly cautioned, "Some parts are true and some parts are not so true."

Mr Cramer told the audience that he shares these stories for a simple reason: he enjoys making people laugh.

"We have a lot of stress in our lives today," Mr Cramer said. "But let's just take some time off this morning, disconnect from your technology if you have it with you, sit back, relax, and laugh as loud as you want, no restraints."

Some of the colorful accounts he told at the Newtown Senior Center were of the owner of Wytopitlock's General Store, Jeremiah Day, and his run-in with the police during a trip to New Hampshire, where he was doing 42 miles an hour in a 40-mile-an-hour zone and some quick witted comments ensued.

Another story was of Oscar Peterson, the drawbridge tender in Wytopitlock, who was on a plane ride home from visiting relatives when he met lawyer and embarked on a colorful betting game.

Between each anecdote Mr Cramer played a lively song on the keyboard for all to enjoy.
