Pool Party

Promotes Town Facility

By Kendra Bobowick.

“The sun came out for us!” said RoseAnn Reggiano, assistant director of Parks and Recreation, with arms spread wide to catch the surprise burst of sunshine relieving days of rain. She watched light dance along Treadwell pool’s surface Friday, June 12, during the Parks and Recreation Department’s pool party. “It went over well, wonderful,” she said. More than 50 people attended.

Summer sounds of splashing and children’s voices mingled with music from DJ Kevin Koschel, who filled the early evening event with familiar songs. Gripping the railing and stepping slowly down a staircase leading deeper into the pool, young Juliana Miraldi inched into the cool water before hopping onto her mother Toni’s back. “We are thinking about day passes,” Ms Miraldi admitted.

As Parks and Rec Director Amy Mangold had hoped, Ms Miraldi was among residents enjoying a free swim and party and would possibly consider using the facility in the future. The day was about showcasing the pool for residents who may not yet have a pass, Ms Mangold said in past weeks.

Leaving wet footprints along the concrete, Steven White wrapped himself tightly in a towel after playing in the water on a bed of long foam noodles that he used as a mini raft. Ben Pinto dropped his feet in at the water’s edge, splashing. Melissa Schnee held her own foam noodle and contemplated joining her friend in the water. Dressed in a pretty blue swimsuit, she swung the bright green foam and looked into the water.
