According to a post on the Pony Rides For Jessica Facebook page, this weekend's fourth annual Pony Rides For Jessica event has been postponed to Sunday, May 15.jessicarekos.org and ponyridesforjessica.org.

Originally planning to present this year's event on May 1, organizers cite "the cold and rainy weather forecast" in their decision to move the special event out by two weeks. The event will still take place from 11 am until 4 pm on  the scenic grounds of the Second Company Governor's Horse Guard, 4 Wildlife Drive.

Tickets are $10 per child. Adults will be admitted free of charge.

The event will continue to celebrate Jessica's life and her love of horses and whales as a fundraiser for The Jessica Rekos Foundation.

There will be pony rides, horse shoe painting, and other arts and crafts, face painting, a bake sale, food, exotic visitors from the Beardsley Zoo, the East Coast LCC K9 Comfort Dogs, representatives from Mystic Seaport, and more.

A raffle and a silent auction will also be part of the event. Offerings include eight tickets granting access to an Outdoor Field VIP suite box at Yankee Stadium on June 25, a golf package (one round of golf for four, use of a cart, and lunch) at Fairview Country Club in Greeenwich, tickets to Connecticut's Beardsley Zoo, the option of having children ride to their school (within Newtown) in a fire truck or having a fire truck visit their birthday party (within Sandy Hook), gift cards for restaurants, a 40-inch HDTV, an iPad Mini, a GoPro Silver, a quadcopter, a $200 gift card for the Broadway or Off Broadway show of the winner's choice, a $100 Toy Tree gift card, theme baskets (including My Little Pony, Legos, and others),

Live music will be provided by Johnny Mac and Steve Sasloe of Norwalk, and food will be offered on site.

Pony Rides For Jessica Rekos is an annual event was first held in early 2013 to celebrate the life of Jessica Rekos, one of the students killed on 12/14. It is run completely by volunteers and relies on donations. All proceeds from the event go directly to The Jessica Rekos Foundation, which was formed in an effort to continue Jessica's love of horses, to continue her whale research, and to enable people to remember her through her love of horses and whales.

The money raised from Pony Rides For Jessica is earmarked for the foundation's annual two-week horseback riding camp, which takes place at King's Bridge Farm in Newtown, as well as for scholarships for horseback riding lessons for deserving children.
