Two Warrants

Newtown police said they received word on the evening of September 1 that a man for whom they held two arrest warrants was being detained at Bridgeport Superior Court, so they went there and transported him back to Newtown.

Police said they charged John Dosky, 56, of Sandy Hook with two counts of failure to respond to an infraction stemming from incidents that occurred on January 31, 2016, and November 12, 2015. Those incidents involved dog violations.

After processing, police released Dosky on $259 bail for a September 13 appearance in Danbury Superior Court.

 

DUI Arrest

Police said that they stopped motorist Beth Ann Kvasnak, 47, of Oxford, who was driving a 2015 Honda Pilot SUV near the intersection of Wasserman Way and Oakview Road at about 11 am on September 2, to investigate.

Police said they charged Kvasnak with driving under the influence. Following arrest processing, Kvasnak posted $240 bail and was released for a September 15 court appearance on the charge, according to police.

 

Truck vs Car

State police report a two-vehicle accident at the end of the Exit 10 off-ramp for westbound Interstate 84 at about 6:04 pm on September 2.

In that collision, a 2014 Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck driven by Michael Gajdosik, 30, of Newtown, struck the rear end of a 2005 Mercedes-Benz 500-E auto driven by Dean Yimoyines, III, 31, of Middlebury, state police said.

There were no injuries. State police said they issued Gajdosik a written warning for following too closely.

 

Camry vs Tree

Police report that at about 9:02 am on September 3, motorist Mohamed Gad, 62, of Brookfield, who was driving a 1999 Toyota Camry northward on Hawleyville Road, about 600 feet north of its intersection with Currituck Road, lost control of the auto, veered to the left, went off the road and then struck a tree.

Gad received a minor arm injury and was checked at the scene by the Newtown Volunteer Ambulance Corps, police said. Police said they issued Gad an infraction for making a restricted turn and for driving without a license.

 

DUI Arrest

Police said they observed that motorist Joseph Collins, 69, of Monroe, who was driving southward on South Main Street near Swamp Road about 12:51 am on September 6, was violating traffic laws, so they stopped him to investigate.

Police report they charged Collins with driving under the influence, failure to drive to the right, and traveling unreasonably fast. Following arrest processing, police released Collins on $100 nonsurety bail for a September court arraignment.

 

Generator Stolen

An electric generator valued at $5,000 has been reported as stolen from Dickinson Park on Elm Drive, police said.

Police said that an equipment rental firm that owns the large red generator had loaned it for use at the September 3 Newtown 5K Road Race at the park, dropping it off on September 2 at the Elm Drive entrance to the park.

The generator was determined to be missing from the park at noon on September 6, police said. Police are investigating the theft and ask anyone with knowledge of the incident to contact them at the police station at 203-426-5841.

 

Waterview Drive Burglar Alarm

Police report that early on the morning of September 7, they learned that a burglar alarm had been triggered at a Waterview Drive home in the Riverside section of Sandy Hook, so they went there to investigate.

Police said they found that a basement window had apparently been forced open at the house where no one was at home at the time of the incident. Police said they entered and searched the house, collecting evidence for their investigation.

Anyone with information on the burglary is asked to contact police at the police station at 203-426-5841.

 

DUI Incident

Police report that at about 10:40 pm on September 7, they made a motor vehicle stop in Hawleyville to investigate a motorist.

After investigating, police charged motorist Valber Hudson, 44, of New Milford with driving under the influence, engaging police in pursuit, and failure to drive in the proper lane.

Following arrest processing, police released Hudson on $500 bail for a September 21 court appearance.

Details on the incident were not available before the deadline for this edition of The Bee.
